Throughout Book I, we have gotten to know Absalom's father, Stephen Kumalo. You should be able to describe him as a round character and as a dynamic character. What makes this character realistic? Describe Kumalo. What positive and negative attributes make up his personality? How has this experience changed him?
What would you consider Paton's most prominent theme to be at this point in the novel?
Paton often goes into great detail to describe the land in South Africa. How is the land symbolic in relation to the story and to Paton's overall message?
